Larry Larson

Recovery Centre for Addictions, Trauma, & Families was established as a private practice by Larry Larson in 2004. Larry has extensive formal education and 35 years experience in counselling and clinical therapy. He has worked with families in crisis, at risk youth, and individuals in recovery from trauma and addictive behaviour. His skills and expertise are best utilized through clinical counselling and helping with individual and family trauma, and couples restoration. Larry says, "One of the greatest joys and satisfaction in my life is witnessing the transformational healing of those seeking help through the counselling process. I feel privileged to be a participant!"

Larry embraces the Trans-theoretical Approach to counselling which combines Psycho-dynamic, Existential, and Gestalt processes with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. His approach emphasizes an empathetic counselling style but also allows for insight, empowerment, and personal responsibility to drive the change process. He approaches mental health therapy with a healing perspective. All faiths and cultures are welcome.

Larry holds a Master's Degree. He is a graduate of Mount Royal College, Calgary (Business Admin Cert, 1975); Aldersgate College (Bth, 1983); Alliance University and Seminary, (MA, 1995); University of Manitoba (Applied Counselling; Addictions Specialization, 2005); Advanced Coaching (Denver; San Antonio, 2006); He is a member of PACCP.

OVERCOMING FEAR

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that  we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."  Movie - "Coach Carter" (2005)
